A new edition of this work in the publisher's original decorative cloth binding, designed by book illustrator and designer Ethel Larcombe (1876-1940). Larcombe was commissioned by the renowned Glasgow Style artist Talwin Morris, who was then Art Director at the publishers Blackie & Son, to design book covers for the firm and their London subsidiary, Gresham, between 1904 and 1912. Many of these designs were produced in several colourways. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and three further colour plates by British artist John Archibald Webb (1866-1947), who generally signed his work 'ARCH WEBB'. Collated, complete. An enduringly popular historical romance novel, written by the notable American author James Fenimore Cooper (1789-1851). This work is set against the background of the Siege of Fort William Henry, during the French and Indian War, and has been adapted many times for film, television and radio.With a sixteen-page publisher's catalogue to the rear.Undated, dated from the publisher's catalogue.
