It is jam-packed full of information and description about the universe from detailed descriptions of the races, to racial technology, and much more. What makes the Xro Dinn Chronicles stand out from other science fiction role playing games is that it is founded upon hard science. Real-world sceince theories are extrapolated upon to bring a more realistic vision of reality. The races are also designed with an eye on social theory. They are designed from the ground up with their spatial location playing an integral role to how they develop socially and technologically. One would be hard-pressed to find a role playing game as rich and detailed as the Xro Dinn Chronicles.

The technology was inspired by known scientific principles and ideas and transplanted into a fictional setting. This means that, in theory, most of the weapons, shields, armor, communications, and technology could exist given enough time to develop them. Of course, there are a few fantastic ideas for things like faster-than-light travel. All of these ideas were presented with the intent of creating a scientifically plausible setting that was exciting and imaginative. In addition to all of this, there are numerous cosmetic changes that have been made to this edition to make it stand out. The artwork is much truer to the visions, in addition to being more professional. Much of the older art has been taken out to create a more consistent feel to the game. The focus of the book is much more clear than it was in the first edition. The rules have also been streamlined to make things easier to work with. Skills that are similar to one another have been removed to simplify the skills selection process. Some of the other more obscure skills that were almost never used have been removed. All in all, it makes for an easier character creation process.
