Residue from label on lower spine and rear pastedown. Hinges cracked internally. Scuff on front free endpaper and top of p. 15. Pages neat and clean except for stain bottom of p. 106. Tributes to Conan Doyle from various celebrities, including other authors. There was more to the author's legacy than Sherlock Holmes. Includes family genealogy, experiences in the Boer War, crusades for justice, life as man of letters, etc.

Hardcover. 1st edition. pp. 136. Small folio. Beautifully bound in silver-decorated red buckram. Bevelled boards, silver rules, titling in silver, with ribbon marker. Coloured tipped-in frontispiece and 130 other illustrations. Slight dent to top edge of front board, slightest rubbing to extreme corner tips of boards. Contents clean and unmarked. Binding slightly stressed between pp. 132-133 - the book may have been pressed flat. Otherwise, in very good to near fine condition. The dust wrapper is slightly chipped at top and bottom of folds. Front flap has been diagonally clipped at bottom. Slight blue smudge (thumbnail size) to front panel. Perhaps a trifle soiled; else in very good condition.
