First edition. First Edition. Spiral-bound Stiff Pictorial Wrappers. Octavo. i-xxvii, 171pp. Introduction. Endnotes. Profusely illustrated, many from old photographs. Full-page, color regional map on verso of front cover, plus 12 smaller local maps along the escape route, with GPS coordinates. Sub-titled: A Field Guide To The James-Younger Gang Escape Trail. Twenty-six 8th grade students in Northfield Minnesota, assisted by twenty-nine interns from Carleton College, in conjunction with the Northfield Historical Society have produced an excellent, practical guide to the route taken by the James-Younger Gang in their efforts to escape pursuit after the infamous Northfied Raid robbery of the First National Bank in Northfield on September 7, 1876. This unique work is nicely supported with a general history of the gang, a recounting of the robbery itself, and a history of people and places along the escape route at that time. As new.
