Soft cover. Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. This is a very special edition of The Arrow celebrating the 100th anniversary of the company (1878-1978) founded by George N. Pierce in Buffalo New York. There is a proclamation by the mayor of Buffalo (August 1978) with lots of Whereases about the 10,000 employees (1918) and the great impact the company had on the city. This is a large book with historical pictures of the company buildings and dozens of beautiful automobiles. There are many never seen or known about chain drive bicycles, motorcycles, trucks and travel trailers. There is a picture of the first Pierce Motorette (1901)m This is a fine collectible for lovers of wonderful cars of the early 20th century. Size: 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall.

Attempts to resurrect a 1936 Pierce-Arrow V-12 are explored. Rare pierce-Arrow coaches and trucks are featured including a funeral coach and a Black and Decker demonstration coach. Although much of the book tells the story of the flood and it's aftermath, also featured is a tale of triumph dealing with an eight day race in challenging conditions in 1903, and a diamond encrusted Arrow that was built to rival one delivered to the Shah of Persia ( Iran) worth $125,000 (1931) during the great depression. A section of this book deals with the specs, dimensions, mechanics, weights and costs of an early Pierce-Arrow (1911-1912). Very collectible for Early luxury car enthusiasts. Also pictured are such obscure items such as the Pierce-Arrow Hotel in Placerville, California and a vintage pierce motorcycle from the thirties. A fine Pierce-Arrow colectible. There are 11 pages, single spaced, small print on the intricacies of the 1933 cars. Such features as engines, engine mountings blocks, crankshafts dampeners, connecting rods oiling systems and every piece and part of the car. There are fabulous pictures of incredible cars and dozens of wonderful pictures. This is a look into what the "well healed" people of the first half of the 20th century drove. Featured on the cover is a 1931 Pierce-Arrow with a custom body, but the body builder's identity is not known, It may be a Willoughby body as many of the moulding lines are similar to a Willoughby Dusenberg built for the actor Frank Morgan. This copy of the arrow includes a section on restoration and Pierce-Arrow auto meets in California. There are numerous pictures of beautiful vintage Arrow's from 1907 to 1936. There is a very interesting story with photographs of an auto race on october of 1903 with 34 automobiles called The Tale of Triumph by Victor Speer, commissioned by the George N. Pierce Co., a predecessor of the Pierce-Arrow Company. There are comparison charts dealing with different car parts from manufacturers. Pierce-Arrow, LaSalle, Cadillac Studebaker and several Packards. There is a directory of factory, distributor and dealer organization. On the back of the book is a copy of an add in the Saturday Evening Post for Pierce- Arrow dated 3/31/23 Open cars $5250 and closed cars $7000. Size: 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall.

Series 00 model 2 features on the cover the 1936 Model 1602 Sedan.This fine book includes an extensive discussion on sales pointers, presumably for dealer on how to handle customers questions. Much of the discussion involves technical issues such as " Why do you now cast the cylinders in one block instead of pairs or why have you discarded the cone clutch in favor of the multiple disc clutch? This Q and A goes on for a full nine pages.There is a section on antique bicycles 1892=1895 Pierce- Model 2, weight 21 pounds cost $85.00. Book is very collectible and in fine condition just like many of the existing Pierce- Arrow's Size: 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall.

( $7,000.00 new) Book includes a selection of photos from the 1976 meet at Painted Post, NY A presentation of the Pierce Arrow Dual Valve Six is discussed. There is a price list of the different 30's era Arrows. Even back then, they weren't cheap. Also there is an extensive list of parts and their prices, for example a set of five wire wheels with balloon tires, $210.00 There are many pictures of Pierce Arrow's magnificent works of art. Carburetor and brake replacement are featured. Also the mostly unknown yet important departments within the factory was the Pierce-Arrow medical department and the Pierce=Arrow Band. This is a fine car enthusiast Collectible. They don't make them like this any more. Actually some do. Fine Size: 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall.

In this issue devoted exclusively to the Series 3 cars produced from June 1914 to February 1916 to A-3, B-3, and C-3 models Pierce-Arrow pleasure cars believed at the time to be "the finest cars the factory ever produced". Also in this book is a very interesting story and pictures of the 1930 town car with gold plated bright work built for Shah of Persia (Iran). Fascinating stuff. Very collectible. The most obvious refinements were in the adoption of left-hand drive and in the sleek new bodies, The new model, called " The pierce-Arrow by the factory, was presented to the dealers at a convention at the plant in late 1920. Much of the descriptive text in the book is from the actual speeches of company officials. " Pierce-Arrow cars stand at the top. Pierce-Arrow is a great name the greatest asset you and Pierce-Arrow Motor Car Company have and it behooves us not to overlook the traditions of the past that have put Pierce-Arrow on top."
