This is a first US edition copy of The Time Machine, the 1895 dystopian novella by the British author H.G. Wells (1866-1946), who wrote a preface specifically for this edition. 86 pages, finely designed and illustrated by the American designer William Addison Dwiggins (1880-1956). It comes in a slipcase which is in poor condition. A little bit of the paper has come off the bottom of the spine. The rest of the book, inside and out, is in perfect condition.

Jacket is very good, clean and bright, the only flaw a `1/2" horizontal chip across the top of the spine not affecting the text. Protected by an archival Mylar jacket cover, this a very attractive, solid copy of an extremely scarce Wells item.
