Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. I like these small books of poetry; they look nice on the shelf and are easier to pack up for mailing if they are sold. Here goes another-one more of now many. Please find: Candlelight and Other Poems by Helen Welshimer. This small soft cover booklet (5 ? x 8 ? inches 39…pages) was published by the NEA Service of Cleveland Ohio dated 1938. It is bound in gray boards with silver decorations and titles and with a stapled binding. I think you will also enjoy the abundant illustrations by Dorothy Urfer. Condition: This booklet is in very good condition. The soft covers are faded around the margins and show some edge wear but nothing serious. Inside the book is unmarked and the pages are bright and clean throughout and without toning or foxing. The stapled binding is still tight and sound.

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Wings of Youth; by Helen Welshimer, author of Love Without Music; Arcadia House Inc., New York, 1941. A very scarce romance novel from the early 1940s. From the blurb It was only a boy-and-girl romance. It was all a mistake Sarah Anne told Judith and Jack. But it… wasn't the truth, and Sarah Anne knew it. She was heartbroken because Jack, for whom she had waited, had fallen in love with Judith. That's why Sarah Anne took up stunt-flying. Here she believed, was escape and adventure raised to the nth degree. But her heart was still vulnerable. She was soon to learn that Heights are no good unless shared, and that aviation, like love, is a sacred trust and not just a game to be played in the sky. Helen Welshimer (1901-1954) Helen was a prolific writer who became quite well known nationally. She was a feature writer for the Canton Daily News where she wrote columns and editorials. Later she wrote for the Akron Beacon Journal. She later took a job as a feature writer for the Newspaper Enterprise Association (NEA). Much of her work at the NEA was nationally syndicated. She authored books of poetry as well as romance novels. This book, 272 pages is in near-fine condition in a very-good dust jacket that is now enclosed in a protective mylar wrap. The main issue with the dust jacket is loss of color caused by the removal of a price label impacting the back on the dust jacket and on the spine. A great copy of a rare title.
