Includes 7-page introduction to the English edition commenting on Aulard and Mathiez and their work on Danton. - Wendel, long-forgotten socialist editor, historian, and expert on both France and on the Balkans (Serbia), emigrated to France in 1933 where he died. - First published in German in 1930 and reprinted in 1978.
