Soft cover. Condition: New. Dan Penrod, John Penrod, & Werner J. Bertsch (illustrator). Revised Edition. Brand new and unread REVISED EDITION; very fresh and bright condition; gift quality! Black and white pictorial wrapper with black lettering. 18 new and unused historical and informative pages nicely enhanced by black and white photographs and illustrations! "The Royal Frontenac hotel was the pride and joy of the Ann Arbor Railroad and was located on the waters edge of Lake Michigan in Frankfort, Michigan. This was one of the largest summer hotels in the country, and took over a year to build. The soothing benefits of steady breezes coming off the big lake always brought cooler summer temperatures than people could find in Detroit or Chicago, plus the low pollen counts made the area a haven for hay fever sufferers. Most travelers came to the Royal Frontenac hotel by train. While there were some automobiles around, the trip from 'down below' to Frankfort by car was arduous at best. Some vacationers would also arrive aboard one of the steamers that traveled either from across the lake or by following the shoreline in a northerly direction." (REVISED EDITION).

First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. Werner, Honi (illustrator). First Edition. 1st edition, November 1990, so stated with complete number line beginning with 1. Fine in near fine dust jacket, very minor rubbing at edges, not price clipped, in protective mylar cover. The first Detective Herb Villon mystery. 1929 Hollywood and "talkies" are about to take over, but not everyone is happy. Not only does Baxt provide us with a cracking good murder case, but we really get to see what it was like when Hollywood was set on its ear with Talking pictures as opposed to silents. A lot of people were ruined with this big change, and lots made themselves more famous and more rich, but it was a collosal switch in the way motion pictures were made. The book is set in Hollywood in 1929. In true Baxt fashion we meet a lot of real people from this era (Sam Goldwyn, Hedda Hopper, Mary Pickford) as well as some great fictitious characters like Superintendent Villon and the Darling family. Book.
