First edition. Cover a bit worn and discolored, edges of pages browned. Nice typographical bookplate 'gb'. Attractive book about the tasks of an 18th century housewife, in this case the wife of paper maker James Whatman II, whose father was the inventor (and most important producer) of wove paper. The book was assembled in 1776-1787. Humorous, refined engravings. The scanned picture illustrates the 'unnecessary temptations of inferior servants' when they find large joints of meat unnattended.
