First Edition
Pictorial Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. First Edition. A LITERARY AND PHOTOGRAPHIC CHRONICLE OF WHEATON COLLEGE. Minor dj shelf-rubbing (comon on dark-colored dustjackets), elsewise a bright, clean, tight, crisp copy sans other flaws. "The pages of "Wheaton 150" can picture only pieces of the story of those who have worked and lived at Wheaton College. Theirs is a story told over many decades, recalling distinguished alumni and beloved faculty, students' late night hijinks and morning quests for learning, and a founder's vision that was captured and carried forward by future generations. Here is a chronicle of a rich history and heritage, a tribute to the men and women who have participated in the work of this place." PROFUSELY ILLUSTRATED in vintage black-and-white and modern era full-color photography with accompanying descriptive captions/passages. "The story of Wheaton College, within the greater narrative of the Lord's reconciling work through generations, is not simply about recollections and nostalgia. the very act of remembering and celebrating establishes a foundation and focus for the future." 160 pages. LBCMC3.

Softcover. 118 p.; 20.5 cm. `Finally, it might seem appropriate to speak of the future of the Christian college. I prefer otherwise, partly because prediction is so difficult but more because my hopes are not so much for the college as for its contribution to the lives of people and the history of our times. The Christian college embodies a strategy for Christian involvement in the life of the mind and the life of a culture, a believing response to the creation mandate God has given men. I have spoken of its uses and of the strategic possibilities it holds. What remains is that we grasp these possibilities, refine the idea still further, and devote our energies to implementing it more effectively tomorrow. It is a small drop in the bucket of higher education, but a drop can cause a ripple, a ripple can grow into a wave, and a wave into a flood that changes the tide of events. If the Christian college can help create a ripple of truth, it can then leave the waves and the tides to God.' (p. 115 f.) VG in orig. green on yellow wrapper.
