Orig. cloth binding. 260(doppelte) pp. German text. - Wier (1516 in Grave/Maas geboren, 1588 in Tecklenburg gestorben) war ein niederländisch/niederrheinischer Arzt und Gegner der Hexenverfolgung, zunächst publizierte er zahlreiche medizinische Schriften. Juristisch stand er unter dem Einfluss von Andrea Alciato (1492-1550) und der Rechtsschule der Universität von Bourges.Mit diesem Werk wurde er bekannt und es wurde das Grundlagenwerk für die Gegner der Hexenprozesse. Wier sprach sich gegen die Bestrafung aus und plädierte für medizinische Behandlung!".his monumental work De Praestigiis Daemonum, a book of great scholarship containing an enormous mass of historical, theological and medicopsychological detail.
