This 1921 autograph letter signed by American landscape painter Carleton Wiggins (1848-1932) is addressed to Mr. Folsom of the Folsom Galleries in New York City. He writes about one of his paintings, "September Day", priced at $500: "As that is a very good specimen of my work I trust you may hav…e luck with it." Wiggins became well-known for his pastoral landscapes that often featured realistically portrayed livestock. His works are in the collections of many major museums including: Metropolitan Museum of Art, National Gallery, Brooklyn Museum, and Art Institute of Chicago. Written in Lyme, Connecticut, in black ink on one side of a folded piece of paper measuring 6 1/4" x 5 1/8" when folded. Condition: A small punched "hole" above "1921" (not affecting any text), otherwise a fine example of Wiggins' bold signature on a letter with art content. Signed by Author(s).
