Formado inicialmente en Bradford y después en el Royal College of Art de Londres, al comienzo de su trayectoria…Hockney estaba muy marcado aún por el expresionismo de Bacon. Su estilo se caracteriza por ser una mezcla de formas figurativas y abstractas recreadas por medio de pinceladas gestuales, toques naif, grafiti y un particular sentido del humor. . . En los 60 viaja a Nueva York donde conoce a Andy Warhol. Se establece en Los Ángeles, y realiza su célebre serie de pinturas sobre piscinas, de estilo realista y con una vibrante paleta de colores (Bigger Splash, 1967, es una de sus pinturas más conocidas). Sus trabajos aluden a su homosexualidad. . . Cultiva la técnica de la pintura, el grabado y la fotografía. Siempre inquieto, no duda en incorporar a su taller nuevos materiales: si en los 80 hacía collages con Polaroids, en esta última etapa se pasa al Ipad, con el que realiza una serie de 50 paisajes. También trabajó como escenógrafo para la Metropolitan Opera House de Nueva York, y como ilustrador realizó portadas para revistas como Vogue. . Su última aventura artística expuesta en la Royal Academy of Arts, es una serie conocida como 82 retratos y un bodegón, para la que han posado familiares, amigos y otras personas de su entorno como su ama de llaves o el operario que reparó su nevera. El icono del pop y el street art creó sus piezas como herramientas de lucha por las causas sociales y su legado artístico es además un puente entre el arte, la mo…da y la música. . . Se formó en la Ivy School de Pittsburgh y en la School of Visual Arts de Nueva York. Tras escuchar una ponencia del artista búlgaro Christo, supo que el arte podía sacarse a la calle. . . Inspirado por el arte esquimal, el africano o la caligrafía china, Haring irrumpió en la escena artística con su particular estilo figurativo, usando el grafiti como técnica y el mural como soporte para transmitir mensajes muy directos. Se vale de la línea y los trazos anchos y negros para resaltar las figuras e iconos habituales de su obra: los niños, el sexo, la o la lucha contra el sida. . . En los ochenta, empezó a intervenir con rotuladores y tizas blancas los fondos negros de los carteles publicitarios del metro de NY. Su primer mural lo hizo en 1982 en la Houston Street de Nueva York y poco después sus grandes esculturas de acero pintado se expusieron en la galería Leo Castelli. .
