William Allan 1813-1874 was a British trade unionist and he worked with William Newton to bring together several branches of other unions to form the Amalgamated Society of Engineers, the first example of what became known as a "New Model Union". Levi Leone, 1821-1888. English jurist and statistician. His chief work, History of British Commerce and of the Economic Progress of the British Nation, 1763-1870, is considered to be a partisan account of British economic development.
