Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. First edition. Limited edition, this is number one hundred and one out of three hundred copies. Square octavo. 263pp. Light foxing on page edges, else near fine with owner's inscription in pencil on front fly: "Archibald Craige, from my friend Francis Poe Brawley." Inscribed by Francis Poe Brawley on limitation. William H. Brawley was from South Carolina and served as a private, saw action in several Virginia battles, and was wounded. After he recuperated, he successfully ran the blockade at Wilmington, North Carolina and reached Bermuda. From there he boarded a steamer for Liverpool. His journal records this part of his life. He is presumed to have been on Confederate business by the doors opened to him, though none is actually mentioned.
