Faversham (1868-1946) was an English-American actor who played leading roles in theatre productions from the 1880's through World War 1. In this letter to Jefferson Winter, Faversham writes that he is sending some plays back to Mr. Winter, and that the "The Iron Mask " is the best proposition of them all for "our audiences". He also expresses his opinion that Shakespeare is going to have "a tremendous vogue". Signed by Author(s).

East Islip, NY Aug. 22, 1937. Post card, 3.25x5.5", with six-line note on blank back and address of recipient on front, light glue stains on address side, minor edge wear else v.g. Faversham thanks recipient for ".your kind and gracious letter", and relates how he is writing "and I hope it will not be long before it will be given to the public to read". (Alas, it never was.) Faversham began his career on the stage in 1887, working until the 1930's (as Jeeter in Tobacco Road").
