Papers begin at March 10, 1863 and continue to 1875. Pages are generally clean. Scattered staining. Some issues with tears, loss. Sold with all faults. The Hanover Citizen was a four-page local weekly, printed in German Fraktur. The paper was owned by George Welsh; Joseph Dellone. F. M. Baughman served as the editor. In 1865 the paper was bought by William Heltzel, of Harrisburg, and William Von Manikowski. Includes American civil war and reconstruction coverage (in German). Articles about General Meade, McClellan, Grant, Lincoln, the Battle of Gettysburg, the establishment of Gettysburg National Cemetery, the Gettysburg Address, etc. Numerous local ads and news.
