Dated 1850 and 1856. the first letter on Literary Gazette headed paper No3 Tavistock Street, Covent Garden London dated 26th October 1850 discussing with an unnamed sir, matters such as coming to town paying individuals and orders of the L G (Literary Gazette) being sent to a theatre on a date 24th October since it opened. An Original Handwritten and Signed Letter by Scottish Journalist Willian Jerdan. Dated 1856. A letter on Literary Gazette headed paper No3 Tavistock Street, Covent Garden London dated 22nd October 1856 discussing with an unnamed matters of his illness bronchitis restricting him going to the theatre lately, but that he would like to have two seats appointed conveniently where he could see the latest appearances of his esteemed friend Macready (William Macready English stage actor 1793 - 1873) . William Jerdan FSA (1782 - 1869), Scottish journalist, was born at Kelso, Scotland. During the years between 1799 and 1806, he spent short periods in a country lawyer's office, a London West India merchant's counting house, an Edinburgh solicitor's chambers, and held the position of surgeon's mate on board H.M. guardship Gladiator in Portsmouth. 1816 - 1850 held post as Chief Editor of the Literary Gazette London.
