Volume one is a facsimile edition of the William Morris Manuscript of The Odes of Horace reproduced from the original in the Bodleian Library, in full colour and gilt. Small 8vo. Very handsomely bound in full brown Indian goatskin. Printed on a special paper that closely matches the vellum of the original. Beautiful facsimile, very exceptional and extremely hard to find. Sold out edition. Volume two is a large slim 4to book with green paper-covered boards with gilt text and border to front cover. The text within is W. E. Gladstone's translation of the Odes with a Commentary by Clive Wilmer. Both volumes are presented in a beautifully constructed box designed by David Eccles, which has the smaller leather volume sitting in a red inset box with ribbon to allow easy removal of book. The larger volume sits neatly above so that both are tightly protected by green clam-shell box which is decorated in gilt and silver. An insert is included that could be framed. An altogether successful facsimile with all the wonders of digital reproduction. TRULY OUTSTANDING AND VERY RARE INDEED IN THIS NEW CONDITION, which was only taken from the box to photograph the contents.
