William Coates Borrett, author, historian and broadcaster, was born in Dartmouth, N.S. in 1894. He was educated at royal military schools in Canada and in Wales. He served with the Canadian Armed Forces in both World Wars. Early in his career he was a pioneer in radio broadcasting, establishing the first commercial station in Nova Scotia in 1926 (CHNS). As an author and historian, he was known for several books based on "Tales Told Under the Old Town Clock," a series of talks on CHNS Radio, Halifax, in the 1940s and 1950s. After his retirement from broadcasting he became commandant of the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires (Nova Scotia Division) and was also appointed by the Canadian government to oversee the restoration of Citadel Hill. He died in 1983. This book, 232 pages, is in near-fine condition in a fair dust jacket. The dust jacket is heavily chipped, and the front flap has become detached from the front of the dust jacket. However, now that is now enclosed in a protective mylar wrap, it looks quite acceptable and the front flap is held firmly in place. The book is nice, and firm and the interior/text block is in fine condition Twenty-one great stories primarily of Halifax and environs. Inscribed by Author(s).…
