Cloth. Condition: Good. None (illustrator). Fascinating study of the occult sciences of India by Louis Jacolliot. Study conducted by French barrister Louis Jacolliot in search for the "Indian roots of western occultism". An undated copy, dated from a copy listed on Copac from the University of Oxford Libraries. This book was originally published in English in 1875. Translated from the French by Williard L. Felt.Containing references to an unknown Sanskrit text which he invented after mixing elements from the Upanishads, Dharmashastras, and Freemasonry. He also expresses his belief in a lost Pacific continent. An interesting work on occultism and spiritism, an uncommon volume. Internally in lovely condition. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally with shelf wear, considerable damp marks to boards. Previous owner's gift inscription to title page dated 1910. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Good. book.
