Pamphlet. 15 p.; 21 cm. Text: Psalm 73, 15-17. `They were the painful throes of a soul that longed to believe, because in the very depths of its sorrow it knew that faith must be the only true solution of its wished-for happiness. They were the sun-motes which have danced before the fevered mental vision of some of God's most faithful servants in their earlier days, till they were purified by the breath of His Holy Spirit as it floated over them. Such, or somewhat like these, were the doubts of the Psalmist Asaph. Such doubts should be dealt with most tenderly. The strong tone of denunciation, which may not be out of place in treating with the determined opponent of Divine revelation, who sins with a high hand and brandishes the weapons of his unhallowed warfare, should be gently modulated when we meet with a doubter such as Asaph, whose every step is marked with difficulty and pain.' (p. 5) Good, sewing loose, in edgespotted tan wrapper.
