First Edition
Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Special Quarterly Issue. The long article featured in this issue is "The Romantic Ballet in London: 1821-1858, Some Hitherto Unremarked Aspects". It discusses the appearance of the Continental ballet in London and opera ballet in the 1820s. It then covers the development of the indigenous English ballet during the second quarter of the 19th century. Condition: the paper wraps covering this nearly square octavo are tanned mainly on the front panel, most likely due to age; the spine of the cover (which is folded & stapled) is separated from the bottom edge up to the lower staple (about 1 1/4"). There is a light vertical crease down the length of the volume. It is in otherwise very good condition. Illustrated with numerous period B&W illustrations. Pages: [84].
