Zeitgenössischer Pappeinband mit Marmorpapierbezug, gelegentlich berieben, altes Papieretikett mit Buchnummer über den oberen Rand des Rückens geklebt, am unteren Rand leicht eingerissen. Provenienz-Inschrift in schwarzer Feder auf dem Titelblatt von 1803 - Bibliothek der Piaristenschule in Kadan und unterstrichener Titel, Impresum und eingeschriebene Nummer in blauer Kreide. Hermann Witekind, unter seinem eigenen Namen Hermann Wilken (er verwendete auch das Pseudonym Augustin Lercheimer), wurde 1522 in Neuenrade geboren und starb am 7. Februar 1603 in Heidelberg. Deutscher Humanist und Mathematiker, Schüler von Philipp Melanchthon. Im Jahr 1563 wurde er Professor für Griechisch an der Philosophischen Fakultät der Universität Heidelberg. Im Jahr 1585 veröffentlichte er auch ein Buch gegen die Hexenverfolgung. Das vorliegende Werk wurde erstmals 1578 in Heidelberg und ein zweites Mal 1628 in Straßburg veröffentlicht.
