This 19th-century memoir tells the story of Hannah Hanson, a young woman in rural Maine who entered an arranged marriage with the author at age 17. The book details Hanson's difficult marriage, marked by allegations of infidelity on her behalf and estrangement from the community. Hanson's subsequent years are a litany of failed relationships, betrayals, and hardships, including losing custody of her children. Despite her struggles, she never stopped advocating for herself, challenging the societal norms of her time, and even seeking a divorce. This book offers a rare glimpse into the life of a woman who refused to conform to societal expectations and fought for her independence in the face of adversity. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
