Hugo Wolf's autograph transcription of Franz Grillparzer's poem "Das Vielliebchen (Philippchen) der Doppel-Mandel" (1820), preceded by a characteristica…lly witty inscription to the young soprano Mizzi Werner (1861-1939), urging her "to take the following poem to heart", lest her "naughty little wings" be clipped. - Grillparzer's poem, built around the image of a double almond, turns a botanical curiosity into an emblem of fidelity: two halves "born in one womb", separated at peril, and irresistibly drawn back together, so that even those who would part in aversion are driven to reunion. - Wolf's choice of text and its mock-admonitory framing place the manuscript firmly in the Viennese salon culture of the early 1880s, where literary quotation, flirtation, and moralising wit could coexist in a single page. Written on ornate Mozart-headed stationery, the piece underscores Wolf's self-fashioning at the intersection of poetry and music, and documents a personal network around a singer to whom he wished to appeal, amuse, or gently warn.

RUDOLF KRZYZANOWSKI (1859?1911), österreichischer Dirigent und Komponist / austrian conductor and composer. Er studierte seit 1872 am Wiener Konservatorium Geige, Orgel, Klavier und Komposition. Er zählte dort gemeinsam mit Friedrich Löhr, Hans Rott und Hugo Wolf zum engen Freundeskreis Gustav Mahlers. Seit 1898 wirkte Krzyzanowski als Erster Kapellmeister der Weimarer Hofkapelle.
