Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. In Hebrew, vowelized, large font. Commentary in Hebrew in Rashi script, with Judeo German translation in Hebrew alphabet. Each of the five scrolls has its own title page and there is also an initial title page with a very large, 3.5 inches (9 cm.) diameter, round illustration of Ruth in the field with other figures, trees, vegetation and a city in the background. 164 leaves (= 328 pages). Three quarter leather binding. The leather is worn and the bottom two inches of the spine strip is lacking. Attractive original leather label on spine, with the word, in Latin alphabet MEGILOTH. Boards are covered with a very attractive marbled paper design. Penciled on front pastedown is writing by former owner: "Joseph Onderwyzer Bronx New York No 2672." Onderwyzer was born in 1892, died 1987 and had a major library.

After Joshua there is one page and after Shoftim there are two pages, in which the editor defines words used by Rashi, using the French, in Latin alphabet and German or Yiddish, using Hebrew, Rashi script.
