Mit 17 Jahren (1969) kam er in den bundesdeutschen Westen, 1974 absolvierte er das Abitur. In Karlsruhe folgte ein Studium der Malerei (Professor Kögle…r) und Bildhauerei (Professoren Kindermann, Akiyama und Hajek) von 1975 bis 1980 an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste. Im Anschluss arbeitete er künstlerisch im IWKA-Gebäude, in dem er bereits als Akkordarbeiter sein Geld verdiente. Aus den Materialien, die er dort fand, baute er Installationen, z.B. Episode und Exodus. Nach sieben Jahren freie Mitarbeit bei Bühnen-, Film- und Fernsehproduktionen sagte er über sich selbst: "Seit 1993 Maler mit kontinuierlich steigender Unlust am öffentlichen Kunstgeschehen. Keine Ausstellungen mehr, nur noch Privatverkäufe und Rückzug in eine umfangreiche Biografielücke."Sein Arbeitsraum war zuletzt die Merzeau-Kaserne in Rastatt in der Kehler Straße 49, weil er sich in den Ateliers hinterm Karlsruher Hauptbahnhof nicht mehr wohl fühlte, es war ihm zu klein.
