Soft cover. Condition: Fair. 1st Edition. WOOLCOTT and the Algonquin Round Table. The Violet, Red, Orange, and Blue Books of Neshobe. [Vermont]: The Owls of Neshobe Island and the Eagles of Cedar Mountain, 1883 & 1884, 500, 347, 333, and 329 copies (respectively). 245Mm, 14-28pp each. Original wrappers. Each book is printed in the color ink that is in its title. [++] The condition here is a bit problematic, with the wrappers detached (but present) on each publication, with the wrappers held in place by old paperclips. FAIR/Good copies. Provenance: Library of Congress, with a few scant internal marks save for one rubber stamp on the rear wrapper. As nicely described elsewhere in the ABE-world, the Neshobe connection was with Alexander Woolcott, who evidently bought part of the island and entertained some of the Algonquin folks there. This series of pamphlets is on the funny/odd/quirky side, and enjoyable. FAIR condition, reflected in the price for the four.
