The 1964 series shows the Yankees finally losing their domenance in baseball, as the Cards win in seven. However, there was plenty of talent on both sides, including Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Bobby Richardson and Clete Boyer for the Yanks, and Curt Flood, Lou Brock, Bob Gibson, and Ray Sadecki for the Cards. Plenty of great photos, and some great historical information on both teams.

Program, 4to, pictorial covers, illustrated, 40 pp. Very slight aging, a couple of faint ink letters on front cover; covers bright, clean, and firm, an almost excellent copy overall. The 1958 World Series was an exciting one, which saw the Yanks down three games to one, come back and avenge their 1957 series loss to the Braves by winning the last three games. Mantle hit two home runs in one game, which would eventually translate into a lifetime World Series record, but it was the hitting of Hank Bauer that did it for the Yanks this time around. Bauer had ten hits, four home runs, and averaged .323 for the series. A very young Hank Aaron was the star for the Braves that season, hitting over .300 for the fourth time in a row.baseball-almanac.com.

They also had some pretty good talent in the field, including Gil Hodgers, Charlie Neal, Muary Wills, and Carl Furillo. White Sox players included Bob Shaw, Louis Aparicio, Norm Cash, and Sam Esposito. baseball-almanac website.

After beating the Dodgers a year earlier, the Yanks were faced with Dodger team that was looking for revenge. Unfortunately, they didn't get it, and lost to the Yanks in six games. Yankee power and hitting made the difference, especially from the 'red hot' Billy Martin who hit .500 for the series. Both lines were impressive including Jackie Robinson, Pee Wee Reese, Roy Campanella, Dick Snider, and Carl Erskine for the Dodgers, and Mickey Mantle, Billy Martin, Yogi Berra, Phil Rizzuto, and Whitey Ford for the Yanks. baseball-almanac website.

Program, 4to, pictorial covers, illustrated, 48 pp. Normal aging, otherwise bright and clean; near fine. This program is the Dodger edition. After beating the Giants a year earlier, the Yanks were faced with a fired up Dodger team, and had to go the full seven games to win the series. It was an exciting series that went back and forth, and while there was some good pitching and many home runs, it was Billy Martin's inches from the ground catch that ended the Dodger's hopes for a series win. baseball-almanac website.

Great players on both teams included Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Yogi Berra, Phil Rizzuto, Sal Maglie, and Bobby Thompson. baseball-almanac website.

The 1943 series was a rematch of the previous year's championship between the Yanks and the Cardinals. However, this time around, the Yanks came out on top, and won in five games. Both teams had to do without key players, including Howie Pollet (Cards), Joe DiMaggio, Phil Rizzuto and Red Ruffing, as a result of military service. There was still plenty of talent on both teams, including Stan Musial, who won the National League batting crown by hitting .357 that year, and Bill Dickey, Charlie Keller, and Frank Crosetti for the Yanks. Inside the front cover is an interesting beer ad that shows Adolph Hitler with a losing hand of cards. baseball-almanac website.

Key players for the Dodgers included, Pete Reiser, Dixie Walker, Walter Higbe and Pee Wee Reese. Joe McCarthy's Yankees included legendary Joe DiMaggio, Phil Rizzuto, Tommy Henrich and Charlie Keller. The 1939 series would be the Reds first trip to the championship since the "Black Sox Scandal" in 1919. Unfortunately for the Reds, thanks to some great work by Joe DiMaggio, Bill Dickey and Charlie Keller, it would be a short trip, and the Yanks would win in four. Bill McKechnie was the Reds manager, and Joe McCarthy did the honors for the Yanks. Key players included Frank Corsetti, Lefty Gomez, Tommy Henrich, and Babe Dahlgren, who replaced the aging Lou Gehrig at first base.
