As with many authors of his time, he describes India as a violent and morally bankrupt place, with a religion that encourages mostly self-mutilation and crime. No earlier edition seems to be listed in OCLC. This "revised edition" is likely a reworking, with additions, from Wright's previous works, Life in India, and India and its Inhabitants.
