It focuses on the political and cultural development of the Israelites during this period, particularly concerning the formation of the Davidic monarchy. The author challenges the notion that monotheism developed only during the era of the great prophets. Instead, the author claims that monotheism had already begun to emerge during the time of Moses, although it took several centuries to fully take hold among the Israelites. While the author acknowledges the presence of polytheistic influences in early Israelite religion, they argue that Moses laid the foundation for the development of a monotheistic conception of God. This book is a valuable resource for understanding the religious and political history of ancient Israel and provides a fresh perspective on the origins of monotheism. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Magnus, Wilhelm and Ferdinand von Wright are best known for their paintings of birds, but the brothers also had divergent artistic and scientific careers. They lived and travelled in various parts of Finland and Sweden, including Haminalahti near Kuopio, Helsinki, Stockholm and Orust island in western Sweden. Magnus and Ferdinand also made short study trips to Germany. Besides bird paintings, their work includes portraits, landscapes and scientific illustrations of plants, butterflies, fish and other animals. This lavishly-illustrated exhibition catalogue features entirely new research and perspectives. The book presents a wide-ranging view of the brothers' art and careers from the standpoints of travel, scientific illustration, scientific history, art conservation and accounts of how their works were acquired. There are 13 articles by experts, as well as interviews with contemporary artists Sanna Kannisto and Jussi Heikkilä. These artists are also taking part in the exhibition. The Ateneum exhibition on the von Wright brothers' art is part of the museum's special programming to honour the centenary of Finnish independence. Text in English. 205 pp.
