Jahrhunderts zu einem zwischen Medizin, Verwaltung und Politik angesiedelten Verwaltungsprojekt. Gegen Ende des 20. Jahrhunderts deuten sich aber eine Reihe von entscheidenden Transformationen im Gesundheitsfeld an, durch die der Staat als wichtiger Akteur in der Verwaltung des Körpers an Einfluss verliert. Gleichzeitig gewinnen andere, dezentrale, individualisierte Formen der Körperpolitik wie etwa Managed Care an Bedeutung.
