There is not a lot of text in English, just one title page and the captions on each page; most text is in Japanese. The illustrations show important sites including Osaka Castle, The Tower of Tennoji, The Waterfall of Mino, The Hot Spring of Arima, The Harbor of Sakai Izumi, Castle of Chihaya, Yoshino Mountain and more. Hardcover, marbled endpapers, attractive colorful cover with illustration of a crowd at a temple and titles in English and Japanese. Both covers are detached. Quite a rare guidebook and probably worth professional repair.

Small 8vo. With numerous illustrations. Text in Japanese by Ueda Koreaki and captions in English. Coloured title page. Original cloth spine on paper covered boards, colour picture on upper cover. Loose in binding, rusty staples which destroys the paper around the holes, some browning to the text. This is one volume of a series of seven.Deals with central Japan and describes a wide range of important sites, famous lakes, hot springs, waterfalls, temples, shrines, etc. For example, Magome juku and Yoro waterfalls in Mino province, Asama hot springs, Lake of Suwa, Iisaka onsen in Fukushima, Haruna lake and Sawatari Onsen in Gunma prefecture, Tsurugaoka hachiman-gu in Kamakura, Mii-dera temple in Otsu, and Chitosero hotel in Jokojo, Aichi prefecture.
