Jubail Industrial City was established in Eastern Province in 1975 to accommodate industrial complexes, major harbour and port facilities, and is a significant contributor to the Saudi economy. As Chair of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, King Fahd urged planners and designers to incorporate Islamic architecture in the construction of both cities. The style in considered new, blending modern with various Arab and Islamic styles developed over the course of history: "The new architectural style is most impressive to visitors and the object of intense interest to both professional architects and artists". This work illustrates the various types of Islamic styles at Jubail.
