Kammern entschieden, dass fortan jedem Schweizerbürger der Kriegsdienst unter fremden Fahnen ohne Erlaubnis des Bundesrates verboten sei." (HBLS 3, 1926, p. 320) - P. de Vallière (Treue und Ehre, 2. Aufl. 1940, p. 730 f.) berichtet vage datierend von einem Vorfall, der für diese Revolte stehen könnte: "1850 schuf man das 13. Schweizer Jägerbataillon [.]. [.] Da beschloss der Bundesrat, den neapolitanischen Regimentern durch die Entfernung der eidgenössischen und kantonalen Farben aus den Fahnen jeden nationalen Charakter zu nehmen. Dieser unkluge Beschluss wurde [.] zur Beruhigung der italienischen Patrioten gefasst und führte zu einer Katastrophe." (p. 730) - Beschluss und erfolgte Ausführung wurden den Truppen nicht offiziell vermittelt. Für diese Mannschaften waren die Feldzeichen jedoch ein eminent wichtiger Identifikationsfaktor, und das Fehlen ihrer Kennzeichen wurde durchwegs als degradierend und diskriminierend gewertet, und zwar spätestens dann, als die Soldaten die Veränderung oder Verstümmelung ihrer Fahnen feststellen mussten : "Schon grollte der Aufruhr" (p. 730.): am 7. Juli kam es zu einer Meuterei von Teilen des 2. und 3. Regiments, in deren Verlauf die Aufständischen sich nicht nur der Fahnen bemächtigten, sondern es auch zu gewaltsamen und tödlichen Auseinandersetzungen kam. Am Schluss des Kampfes zählte man 50 Tote und Verwundete. "Diese peinlichen Ereignisse gaben den kapitulierten Diensten den Gnadenstoss" (de Vallière p. 730 f.). - "Nach dem Tod Ferdinands II. [am 22. Mai 1859] und dem Auslaufen der Kapitulationen 1859 wurden die Regimenter nach einer z.T. wegen der beseitigten Insignien ausgebrochenen Fahnenmeuterei offiziell aufgelöst, aber noch 1860 kämpften drei Fremdenbataillone in Sizilien gegen Giuseppe Garibaldi." (HLS, Neapel). Das Ereignis fand also tatsächlich 1859 statt: "1859 führte eine Revolte zur Entlassung der Schweizer Regimenter in Neapel" (U. Knellwolf, Schweizer in fremden Kriegsdiensten. In: H. R. Fuhrer u. R.-P. Eyer, Schweizer in Fremden Diensten. 2006, p. 15; vgl. Fuhrer/Eyer, Das Ende der Fremden Dienste, op. cit. p. 256). - "Der Dienst für Sardinien-Piemont endete 1815 (die Hundertschweizer der Garde dienten freilich noch bis 1832), der für England im Jahre 1816. Am längsten hielten sich die Dienste für den Papst und das Königtum Neapel. [.] Die Dienste für Neapel dauerten bis 1859; sie waren 1789 aufgegeben, dann aber 1825 neu begründet worden. Der Fall Neapel stand im Mittelpunkt der Diskussion, die schliesslich zur Aufhebung der Fremden Dienste führte. Artikel 11 der Bundesverfassung von 1848 verbot den Abschluss neuer Kapitulationen, ohne die bereits geschlossenen aufzuheben oder die Anwerbung von Einzelpersonen zu verbieten. Erst 1859 wurde jeder Waffendienst für eine fremde Macht ohne ausdrückliche Erlaubnis des Bundesrats verboten [.].?
