The main focus of the book is onresearch of a new class of photonic devices, wheregratings are rendered active in fibres with internalelectrodes. Electric control of light in fibres isexploited in dynamic measurements in the nanosecondregime. Numerical simulations give accuratedescription of the physics behind the birefringenceswitching process.
