Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. This book presents a scholarly study of Jews in medieval France, specifically putting forward the controversial idea that there was a Jewish kingdom established in France that was a vassal of the Crolingian Empire. This study looks at the unique evolution of Jewish culture in this part of the world from the end of the Roman Empire, through Visigothic, Muslim, and French rule of the territory. The author argues that the culture of this Jewish population was unique from French culture as well as from the broader Jewish community. This copy is in Very Good condition. There is slight wear and disoclouration to the fabric covering the boards, and the fabric on the spine is slightly faded. Internally, the book is in excellent condition. There is only one small note in pen on the front pastedown.
