General Bibliography. Artist Bibliographies. Index, Photo Credits. The art reproductions are brilliant & the "author's sparkling text" make this book a treasure for the mind & a visual bacchanalia. A big art book, but published in quarto rather than folio or oblong, it will rest in your lap easily for hours while you read & look at it. The author has a solid résumé as a scholar of the fine arts & as a museum director. Lovers of fine art are attracted, at one time or another, to one style or another of still life painting. This book comes as close to having "it all" as anything published on the subject.
