The bibliography in Part One provides detailed descriptions for Trollope's books and separately published works, undated private issues, contributions to books, contributions to periodicals, writings published in St. Paul's Magazine under Trollope's editorship, and collected editions. Entries for first British and American editions include title page transcriptions, collations, contents, and binding descriptions, with illustrations. Part Two discusses the publishing history and comparitive scarcities of Trollope first editions. The TLS review of a later reprint observed: "This classic performance. Was first published in 1928. It was early recognized as some thing more (though that is much) than a model author-bibliography. . Sadleir added a new dimension to the descriptive bibliography of the published output of the nineteenth century. Moreover, in this book he made his first considered attack on the general problem of comparative scarcities; and its bibliophilic, as distinct from its strictly bibliographical, commentary gave authoritative impetus to the consideration of condition as a factor in the collecting of edition-bound books." Covers of main volume slightly scuffed and scratched, endpapers cracked at front hinge, contents slightly agetoned, otherwise Good.
