Softcover. Condition: Very Good. Stiff card, perfect binding. 53 +[5 illustrated blanks for notes]. Heavily illustrated throughout by the author. A fun adventurous book, part journal-sketch book and part a collection of recipes created, and used during Carstarphen's travels through the Caribbean. She writes "This book wants to share some of the ideas and information discovered during years of sailing through the islands. And hopes to give a small taste and feeling of the real way to experience this special part of the world, from the deck of a sailing vessel." Recipes are scattered throughout the book without typical order supporting the journal-sketchbook style. Recipes are both in narrative and standard form. Take for example "Fresh Fruit Cup" which gives suggestions for various available fruits layered with shredded coconut and raw sugar. Examples of standard form recipes: E.J.'s West Indian Coconut Bread; Guava-Banana Pie; Conch Fritters. A truly fun book to read. ; 8vo.
