A scarce, two-volume signed first edition of Sir Arnold Talbot Wilson's account of British military operations in Mesopotamia during and after the First World War. Signed dedications to the front free end paper of both volumes, to Captain R. E. Cheeseman from the author, dated September 1931.Cheeseman was a English military officer who served as Private Secretary to Sir Percy Cox in Iraq. Sir Wilson references Cheeseman's own book, In Unknown Arabia, on page 161 of volume one.Sir Cox features heavily in Talbot Wilson's account and his portrait appears on page 66 of volume one.Volume one is illustrated with twenty-eight black and white plates, mostly portraits of British officers, and fours maps in a rear pocket.
