While most bibliographies record these acts as separate printings by Francis Childs, this volume features the much rarer Richard Folwell imprint, which compiles both sessions into a single, significant legislative record. Historical Significance: This volume captures the critical "infancy" of the United States government during the final years of George Washington's presidency. The first few pages, up to and presumably including the Primary title page are missing. The lower 1/4 of the first title page is missing. All other pages are present and easily readable, albeit with rubbing and chipping to edges and corners, soiling and foxing to pages and text block, appropriate for its age and apparent use. The session laws are issued with consecutive pagination so that the sessions 33d Geo. III through 39th Geo. III would comprise the third volume, and 40th Geo. III through 44 Geo. III would comprise the fourth volume. Each of the session laws are divided into two parts, with the annual acts (i.e. the acts which expired within 12 months) paginated separately and not intended to be included when compiled and bound into volumes (and thus very rare).
