First Edition
Quarter-leather. Condition: Good. Acts of the Third and Fourth Congress (1797) - Rare Richard Folwell Printing A Foundation Stone of American Law from the Final Years of the Washington Presidency This is an exceptional and scarce First Edition of the collected session laws from the Third and Fourth Congresses (1793-1797). While most bibliographies record these acts as separate printings by Francis Childs, this volume features the much rarer Richard Folwell imprint, which compiles both sessions into a single, significant legislative record. Historical Significance: This volume captures the critical "infancy" of the United States government during the final years of George Washington's presidency. It includes: Acts Passed at the Second Session of the Third Congress (1794) Acts Passed at the First and Second Sessions of the Fourth Congress (1795-1796) Comprehensive Index: A complete digest of the laws of the United States arranged by subject. Condition & Binding: Binding: Beautifully preserved in a Modern Quarter-Leather binding with decorative paper sides. The binding is remarkably tight and secure. Interior: The text remains clean throughout. The title page shows authentic age, being quite worn with a corner missing on the top right edge (not affecting text). The final page has a 4-inch closed tear along the spine, common for documents of this period. An essential acquisition for high-level collectors of Americana, Constitutional law, and the Federal period. [Store Location: 2.2].

Seller: Atlanta Vintage Books, Atlanta, GA, U.S.A.
Leather. Condition: Acceptable. Full calf leather. 500+ pages. Includes 4 bound volumes, 1794-1796: Acts Passed at the First Session of the Third Congress of the United States of America (1794), Acts Passed at the Second Session of the Third Congress.(1794), Acts Passed at the First Session of the Fourth Congress.(1795), Acts Passed at the Second Session of the Fourth Congress.(1796), and a lengthy Index to the Laws. While binding is tight, leather boards are rubbed, scuffed and bent; the back board is loose, but secure; hinge is cracked. Text block is soiled. The first few pages, up to and presumably including the Primary title page are missing. The lower 1/4 of the first title page is missing. All other pages are present and easily readable, albeit with rubbing and chipping to edges and corners, soiling and foxing to pages and text block, appropriate for its age and apparent use. A remarkable piece of history. Pictures available upon request.

13 vols. 4to. Condition: Library buckram. Ink stamps. 13 vols. 4to. A remarkable run of Jamaica laws, comprising the first edition of the 2-volume 1792 revision (comprising the laws in force from 1680 to 1792), followed by a consecutive run of session laws from 1792-1802. The session laws are issued with consecutive pagination so that the sessions 33d Geo. III through 39th Geo. III would comprise the third volume, and 40th Geo. III through 44 Geo. III would comprise the fourth volume. Each of the session laws are divided into two parts, with the annual acts (i.e. the acts which expired within 12 months) paginated separately and not intended to be included when compiled and bound into volumes (and thus very rare). Several of the session laws present here would appear to be entirely unrecorded by Cundall and ESTC. Volume 1: viii, [136], lxxix, 426pp. Volume 2: [2], 660, [4]pp. 33 Geo.
