Stiff grey wrappers with a wire comb binding with front cover printed in black and with an actual black and white photo of 12 aircraft flying in formation over a celebration at Chino Field laid on within photo corners and with rear cover showing a color image of a young woman astride the Cal-Aero logo and holding a professional film camera. A few dings around the edges, wire comb intact and rust free, tiny rubbed spot on inside of front wrapper, all internal images in fine condition, else near fine to fine with no internal markings. A rare piece of Chino Airport ephemera. Date determined from contents. Chino Airport (IATA: CNO, ICAO: KCNO, FAA LID: CNO) is a county-owned general aviation airport about three miles southeast of Chino, in San Bernardino County, California. Cal-Aero Academy, founded by Major C.C. Moseley, was an independent flying school at Chino Airport when World War II started. The U.S. Army Air Forces contracted with the school to provide basic and primary flight training for Army Air Cadets. During the war, Cal-Aero operated the training base with Stearmans and BT-13s. The name "Cal-Aero" is preserved at the airport and it can be seen on several buildings. Corliss Champion Moseley (1894-1974) was a United States Army aviator and later civilian trainer. Following his service in World War I, where he was credited with one aerial victory, he was in charge of all United States Army Air Service schools. As a civilian, he set up flying schools which are estimated to have taught over 25,000 pilots and 5,000 mechanics, mostly for service in World War II. He was also a business executive, either helping found or organize Western Air Express (which later became Western Airlines). Young Eagles is a program created by the US Experimental Aircraft Association designed to give children between the ages of 8 to 17 an opportunity to experience flight in a general aviation airplane while educating them about aviation. The program is offered free of charge with costs covered by the volunteers. It was launched in 1992 and, by 2016, has flown more than 2 million children in 90 countries. The actor and pilot Harrison Ford served as Chairman 2004-2009. He is shown in one picture with children in the program.…

There is a full page ad several page in which appears to possibly serve as a title page. The top one-half is missing. The bottom half says "By THE FLYING CLUB OF BALTIMORE and THE AIR CORPS, MARYLAND NATIONAL GUARD." However, another full page present lists officers of the club, staff of the Maryland Nat'l Guard Air Corps, pilots, & the airport commission. Also,two leaves are detached & have been archivally reattached with minimal. but sufficient application. Notwithstanding, we still grade this as a good copy. The front cover has a lower corner crease (1") & there is a wrinkle at the top. This is really quite a remarkable program with portraits of important military people, ads, descriptions of competitive events: National Guard Race, Parachute Jump, Pursuit Race, Maneuverability Contest, Mixed Relay Race, Parachute Jump (2nd heat). There are short articles such as, "Where To, Aeronautics?", "Guardsmen in the Air." Air traffic rules are printed, as are requirements for various levels of certification. The ads of various aircraft companies, some showing an airplane, are striking. Last page is list of "Meteorlogical Stations" of the U. S. Weather Bureau in dozens of cities. One page is written with joke and humor, "None Such Flying Club Wishitwas, Kansas." There is a full page photo showing "The Gang listening to CAPT. HAROLD W. HINDS" with several pilots enjoying the moment. Full page portrait of Hon. Albert C. Ritchie, Executive Department, Annapolis, who wrote a full page welcome. This was the 8th annual aero show in Baltimore. The internet has good information on Logan Field, which went out of existence in or just after 1945. This is a rare aviation item. No copies appear in WorldCat or anywhere else I have looked.…
