An attractively illustrated edition of Thomas Gray's (1716- 1771) popular Pindaric Ode, edited by bibliographer and librarian to the Duke of Bedford, John Martin (1791-1855), who, in his prefatory remarks lavishes his illustrator, Caroline Jane Stuart Talbot (d. 1876), with well-deserved praise. Talbot was the author of Parochial Mission-Women: their work, and its fruits (1862), but appears not to have been involved with any further publications. Size: 8vo.
