Paperback. Condition: Fair. Third Edition. 29 pages in stapled wrappers. INSCRIBED and signed by Kosinski to John Aldridge and his wife Alexandria in 1967 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Aldridge was an English Professor at the University of Michigan, an author and one of the most important literary critics of his generation. This copy is well worn and includes much underlining and a few margin notes made by Aldridge. The front cover is nearly unattached and is barely being held by one of the staples. A fair copy only but an important copy.

Volume 1: xii+86pp. Volume 2: xxiv+50pp. Both volumes 4to in original pottery-green charcoal paper, with white vellum backs, stamped in gold. Set in Garamond on American paper specially adapted for the printing of the Aquatone illustrations. Inscribed and signed by the author. The 51 illustrations were mostly photographed for the author. There are a few old prints of early Californian scenes. An almost fine, numbered set with the scarce original prospectus.
