First Edition. Original brown cloth with white and blue illustration at front cover. Nautical adventure novel with front panel depiction of African sailors. 'Young Jack the greenhorn at the opening of this tale leaves his school and his angry uncle and embarks upon the Flying Cloud to seek his fortune in Australia. But neither school nor uncle could have given him the training he received from the brown men of the crew, the two brave mates, the old Malay boson and the captain, a victim of opium. It is a thrilling story of how Jack learned the ways of the sea and the seamen.' [Book Review Digest', 1907, Volume III, p.170] Very uncommon in dustjacket. Very Good attractive copy, white lettering mostly flecked away, in Very Good dustjacket, chipping along top edge.
