Erste und einzige Ausgabe des Hauptwerks von John Curr (1756-1823) einem sogenannten coal-viewer, eine ursprünglichen Bezeichnung für einen Bergbauingenieurs. Curr war ein englischer Bergbauingenieur und Erfinder, der von 1781 bis 1801 als Inspektor der Kohlengruben des Herzogs von Norfolk im englischen Sheffield fungierte. Während dieser Zeit schuf er eine Reihe von Innovationen, die maßgeblich zur Entwicklung des Kohlebergbaus und der Eisenbahn beitrugen. Er beschreibt in diesem Buch erstmalig seiner Erfindung einer Bahn mit Eisenrädern auf Eisenschienen, die die Arbeit in den Kohleminen und weit darüber hinaus revolutionierte. In den von ihm entworfenen Kohleloren konnten bis zu 2000 zusätzliche Einheiten bewegt werden und die Arbeitsbelastung enorm erleichtert werden. Darüber hinaus veröffentlicht er seine modifizierten Dampfmaschinenkessel- Entwürfe. Zeitgenössischer Besitzvermerk auf dem Vorsatz. "Georg Geddes Property bought 23.
