First edition. Publisher's original orange cloth with red titles to the upper board and spine, in the Serge Drigin illustrated dustwrapper. Illustrated with four full page black and white plates by Serge Drigin. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with minor bumping at the extremities. The contents, with spotting to the endpapers are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the lightly rubbed and nicked dustwrapper that has a couple of closed tears but remains without fading or loss. Not price-clipped (5s net to the lower front flap). The second title in a small series of highly regarded World War Two novels by Rowland Walker which chronicle the events of the different Military services and are notable for containing the actual names of those involved and dates of operations. The author was, with the publication of 'Dastral of the Flying Corps' in 1918, one of the first servicemen to write flying stories from personal experience rather than research.
